Welcome to our crazy life....

When I grew up I had the wonderful benefit of living a bike ride away from both sets of grandparents. Not so lucky are our kids. Even for the actual ones that live in Atlanta, it's still a about an hours drive away! So, this blog will have to serve as the next best thing to riding our bikes to see the grandparents. Enjoy watching our kids learn and grow one day at a time...

Halloween Fun in the Grove Park Cul De Sac

Getting Ready for Halloween

So this year I am allowing the kids to celebrate Halloween. We usually don't. So this is a big deal for the kids, they are super excited about the whole event. The moment they woke up this morning they asked if they could put on their costumes! Yesterday we went shopping for them so here's a preview of they have decided to dress up as....

I don't have a costume for Madie yet, Elizabeth's suggestion was to put a bib on her backwards and make her Super Baby!

Best sight

So on my way down to pick up our new Sleigh Bed frame in McDonough (Pictures of that to come...) I stopped to get gas, At Sam's, it never lets me down

A Slash of Blue

I made a picture out of this poem.
-Elizabeth

A Slash of Blue
by Emily Dickinson

A slash of Blue-
A sweep of Gray-
Some scarlet patches on the way,
Compose an Evening sky.
A little purple slipped between-
Some Ruby Trousers hurried on-
A Wave of Gold-
A Bank of Day-
This just makes out the Morning Sky.

What Caleb did today- the next day

I did a tornado crash with lots of paint. then I am going to do another one after this. it's been a good day.

What Caleb did today

I did a crazy picture. And I played half of a boat game when I was done doing the picture. I did 4 pictures. And then I waited to do this and colored on the back of my mommies things (post it notes) crazy things. After my big sister is done cleaning up her schoolwork and I am done doing this, we can play in the back yard. Then we are going to do all the things we want to do. When Daddy comes back from the dentist we will tell him all about all the things we did. That's all I want to do. Bye!

3 100%

I started school early today. I do school at the dining room table. I have a lot of school books this year because I'm in 4th grade.

Today I took 2 tests and 1 quiz in history and science. In history I am learning about the thirteen colonies. In science I am learning about insects and plants. I got 100s on all of them! I was elated! We celebrated by eating Reese peanut butter cups and Goldfish.

Weekend

Here's some pictures from our weekend...
Finally cold enough for the coats, here's Madie in Elizabeth's old coat. David thinks she looks like an ewok....:-)

Our last Refuge class for 2008....David Graeser and Keith decide to use the little kids barre to really get a good stretch in. Saturday was a great day, we had out first Official Board meeting for Refuge. Forgot to take a picture of that. We also remembered that it was 2 years ago to the day that we had our first performance at the Heritage Fall Festival in McDonough. We danced in the street that day, with the dirt because the stage was tiny and unstable....good memories!
I can't tell if she is saying "Hooray for Fall" or "get this hood off my head...now!!"

Stress

One of my students asked me last night what I do when I get stressed. I thought about it and couldn’t answer. I figured out its not me getting stressed that bothers me, it is when things in my life around me get stressful or out of order. Case in point, when things get crazy, I create piles…..I have at least 5 around the house currently.....wondering is this is a good way to handle things.

Up before the sun

As I was making a pot of coffee early this morning, I looked into the living room and found Madie....

Yes, she's already getting her quiet time in at 11 months! She's not reading the bible yet but at least she is reading about something God made...bears and bunnies!

Tuesday morning Fun

The kids have a new game with Madie and the tunnel....Madie crawls to one side and Elizabeth rushes over to that side to say boo, then Madie turns around and crawls to the other side but alas Caleb's there as well, all three kids crack up and do it again....we've only been up 15 minutes and already they are playing!

Believe it or not, sometimes people Other then Me get a wild hair to rearrange the house...

We moved the bed, and now both our desks are by a window. (you can't see mine but its behind the pillows by the window)
Poor David lost his comfy chair, but now I get the benefit of it too! This is a perfect reading spot now....
In order to make the new arrangement fit, my dresser ended up in the closet. Here's what I will be doing tomorrow.....
Then. Someone, decided to make one bed room the playroom.....
and the other room the sleeping room! (note previous picture, we do not need new toys for Christmas....)
Caleb helped move all the blocks into the living room while we move all the furniture....guess I forgot to mention to stack them nicely.

thoughts,...

you know some times you just can't figure everything out at once. and I hate that. One minute everything is cool the next it's the end of the world. One of these days I'll get it all figured out and stay on top of everything. but that's not now. At least the weather is nice, I love October. Btw I am thinking about switching to wordpress for my blogging, I'll keep everyone posted on how that works out. Also, why doesn't anyone write a good writing program for home schoolers? I just can't ever find one I like.....

Is it wrong to use your children for Advertising?

PDATL '08

This is what happened this past weekend, Project Dance Atlanta. Here's my dinning room table with piles of papers for the event, thank you notes and candy!

Friday's events were held at the Westin Downtown. Here's the band setting up for Friday Night Live, all the tables for Registration and Expo.

Ava, Cheryl's daughter, helping stuff goodie bags and my amazing Refuge Dance company getting things done with smiles on their faces. They all were such amazing help this weekend. This wouldn't have happened without their dedication and service.

Unfortunately, no one took pictures of anything on Saturday, we were too busy! But we have two professional photographers taking care of that for us, so I will post those when they are ready.

Sunday I got my Contemporary Class on! I had like some 30 plus dancers take my class, we were packed out! Above I am teaching part of Gravity, my piece about weakness. In the picture to the side, my Bff Angella came down for the whole weekend and we got to take the last class together, Stephen's modern class. Randy gave us both new shirts from Ad Deum so we wore them and danced side by side like old times!!!! Below me leading my class in one of our favorite stretches, man I hurt even thinking about it.... Monday I woke up SO SORE.

What an amazing weekend it was, we had a wonderful time on Friday, my mom help out with the kids so much. They had a blast at the hotel swimming and playing. Saturday we had an audience the entire day and despite some technical problems we danced no-stop from 12 noon to 6pm! Sunday everyone had wonderful storied to tell about meeting people in the park, and sharing Christ to what God has done in their hearts through this weekend. We danced till we couldn't dance no more!!!! Glorious!
